FAQ

What is the IDP?
The Interdependence Project (IDP) is a meditation group dedicated to bringing mindfulness to activism and the arts. You can learn more in our about page, history page, and you can even meet the staff online
So it’s a meditation group?
Yes, but a meditation group dedicated to doing something with the mindfulness that comes from meditation. We offer meditation classes, arts programs and we have some very active social action programs.
What are your upcoming events and classes?
We have events and classes in the New York City Area as well as some in Portland, OR and well as Austin, TX. You can see all of the upcoming events in your area by going to the calendar and choosing your location. You can also go to the classes page for information on our regularly occurring classes.
What is meditation all about?
By now, meditation has been scientifically demonstrated to have great benefits for happiness, health and wellbeing. But it’s not enough to do it once or twice – meditation is a practice that must be brought into a regular routine over time to understand how it reduces anxiety and stress, increases focus and listening skills, brings out our natural compassion, and generally makes us more awake and available to the world around us. More information on Meditation is available on our About Meditation Page.

What is Sit Down, Rise Up?
The core idea of our meditation group is engaging in the world with any benefits that come from meditation. So we “Sit Down” to work with our mind during meditation and then “Rise Up” to engage in the world.
