Daily Connect: Ask a Beautiful Question

Rinpoche explained that when we find the right question to ask, the Dharma, (texts and teachers), can only provide hints and clues to direct us to the true answer which exists within ourselves.  It made me consider the questions that are truly important to me and which led me to study Buddhism, such as "How do I make a meaningful life?", "What is the nature of existence?", and "What does it mean to love?", and I realized that of course he must be right;  such questions could only be understood and apprehended through one's own subjective experience.   In fact, if Buddhism purported to simply tell me what to believe, it likely wouldn't hold much interest for me. 

In his final comments about this subject,  Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche said, "Knowing what you don't know is better than thinking you know what you don't know."   Which  suggests to me that living with questions is a lot more enlightening than living with answers.   So why do we need answers so badly?  Why can't we live with "I don't know"?   After all, it seems as if we're doing just that anyway . . .
