I just read this article in Science Fair about how meditation can make one a more rational decision maker. Since my practice has been a bit shaky this week, reading this makes me want to sit RIGHT NOW. Yes I agree, I do feel calmer and more rational around decisions since I started to meditate and I really like this about myself.
The article focuses on the meditators' ability to accept a gift without second guessing. The non-meditators were dubious. In our culture we learn to be constant skeptics and doubters. I experience this as a profound lack of security. It's like when we can't accept a compliment or an act of generosity because all these needles and pins of defense rise up in us. Karmic needles and pins that poke us from the inside and don't allow us to receive. Often what we cannot receive is love and goodness. I feel a bit of Hungry Ghost in there.
I appreciate in myself and others when the ability to just say yes without hesitation or fear. There is actually a skill involved in the ability to immediately recognize a good thing and just be open to it. Just as there is a skill in the immediate "no".
Has meditation helped you with this?
Are you sitting?...I will right now!

Living Meditation
I find that meditation sneaks its way into decision making. Don't forget that if you haven't been the perfect practioner of sitting meditation, that you can actually practice while doing everything else as well.
Most definitely it has
Most definitely it has helped! I've meditated for many years on and off, but since February of this year I've started meditating everyday and WOW! it really does open you up to being honest and being able to accept love and generosity like you've mentioned here. Somedays I want to sit more than once now... it's like a drug LOL.
