This solemn Sunday, I wish only to quote a quote, presented in Indestructible Truth by Reginald Ray. The five line quote is described as Longchepa's summarization of the dzochen perspective (p.112):
The present mind, which is unhindered--
No grasping at "this" [or "that"], free from any
modification or dilutions, and
Unstained by [the duality of] grasped and grasper--
Is the nature of ultimate truth. Maintain this state.
I had the opportunity to present my perspective on these thoughts to my GMAT class this Saturday in our ten minute break. I thanked those students who were curious enough to ask me why I seemed a little joyous.
The nature of it is this. The pain in my knee is not my pain. The sight that I see is not my vision. The sounds that I hear are not my sounds. The pain is pain, the sight sight, the sound sound, and I am only in one conspicuous present, able to perceive it. It is beautiful, our consciousness, when touched like a feather from three steps back. The next time you feel tired, try to see who it is that is tired, and you will only find present openness, present aliveness, and present awareness. Let the joyous gift of being able to be aware present itself to you in all its miraculous depth, and remember that ultimately, there is no separation between the present and you.
