"Nuala Clarke's Ziji art class was a treat. As an artist who felt very blocked at the time, the exercises presented helped break up my tight concepts, find freedom in space again, and just leap into it. Nuala is kind-hearted and open, with a teaching style accessible to all." Heather Coleman

"The Tibetan word for confidence is Ziji....This kind of confidence contains gentleness, because the notion of fear does not arise; sturdiness, because in the state of confidence there is ever-present resourcefulness; and joy because trusting in the heart brings a greater sense of humor."
- Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, The Sacred Path of the Warrior

Ziji Art is a 4-week Visual Arts Workshop where we will integrate our respective art practices with meditation and dharma study. Using mindfulness, awareness and embodiment centered art practices we will develop our ability to bring creativity into our everyday lives. The course will emphasize interdependence and community as important tools for the artist's path.

This course covers basic visual awareness exercises that are relevant to both beginner and advanced students looking to work directly with their relationship to visual perception.

The series will culminate in a daylong arts retreat with Sokuzan Bob Brown on Saturday Feb. 27th. More info about the retreat available here

Committing to all four weeks is not a requirement, though it is encouraged for those who want to go deeper into practice.

Nuala Clarke is a painter, teacher and mentor who has had numerous solo exhibitions in Europe and North America. Her work deals primarily with her experience of physical space and the passage of time. She studies meditation at the Interdepedence Project.
