Interdependence PenPal Project, a new bud on the ID Prison Project Tree. Letters through Bars, based on mutuality and friendship

Those of us who practice meditation know that until we rest in the Awakened Mind, we live inside some sort of prison. Many men and women in our society live in literal prisons and they form one of the most isolated populations in our society.

The only physical way to connect with these friends is through an old fashion hand-written letter. In prison a letter is a life-line and is viewed as a jewel by the people who live behinds the walls. The ID Project is coordinating a wonderful opportunity to make a new friend, establish a writing practice and explore spiritual liberation.

Come to an inspiring intro session led by meditation teacher and project coordinator, Jessica Rasp and Michael Carey, ID Prison Project leader:

  • Meditation practice
  • Talk and letter reading by Michael/Jessica
  • Mutual discussion, outline of project and questions

We are linking people with both inmates who practice meditation and those who do not. The quiet aspiration for those inmates who do not yet practice meditation is for them to be sparked to do so through correspondence. Ultimately this is about mutuality and friendship.
