IDPBody & Movement offers several different forms of movement practice, the aim of which is to awaken the body -- to become more grounded, energized and clear -- to nurture the unique physical home we each have in the world.
This class will ask you to slow down and experience your body and breath mindfully with awareness. Flow (vinyasa) yoga is linking breath (prana) with posture (asana). If you can walk up two flights of stairs, then you can take this class. Though not a “gentle yoga” class, gentleness in relating with your thoughts will be encouraged. We will not push you into crazy poses or watch you muscle your way into a posture your body isn’t ready for.

Amy de Lucia is a yoga teacher and trained Doula. She has been practicing yoga for over 15 years and has been teaching yoga for 10. Amy first discovered yoga during a dance workshop with Mark Morris. Her yoga practice quickly became a wonderful antidote to dance classes and rehearsals and her life soon took a different direction. In 2002 she received her certification to teach yoga from Om Yoga Center and received her certification to teach pre-natal yoga in 2005. Coming from a classical and contemporary dance background, Amy's classes reflect an in-depth understanding of the body and movement and integrate fundamentals of alignment, breath and flow. Her classes incorporate both the yoga sutras of Patanjali and Buddhist philosophy. She creates a meditative and nurturing environment as students are guided into a practice of clarity and spaciousness of the physical body as well as the mind. Students say that her classes are like “a big massage,” soothing yet vigorous, meditative and rejuvenating. Amy also became a trained Doula in 2009 and offers labor support to women in the NY area. She has a B.S. from Skidmore College and many, many great teachers to thank that have helped her along her path. Her most recent and inspiring teacher to date is Giusefina De Lucia-Ferri, born on January 19, 2010
