Uva Most, LCSW Co-founder, IDP-Austin Director of Arts and Programming
Uva Most has studied Eastern religions and meditation techniques for the last 10 years. She currently practices meditation in the Shambhala tradition and is a participant in the Shambhala Training program. Uva has been a devotee of the spiritual teacher Mata Amritanandamayi for the last eight years.
Uva is a licensed clinical social worker/psychotherapist in private practice in Austin. Her primary interest in counseling is the integration of mind, body, and spirit. She has studied a variety of healing modalities including energy medicine, yoga, mindfulness, and spiritual practice to assist clients in reconnecting to their innate wisdom. Uva is currently receiving training in Rubenfeld Synergy, a somatic therapy that combines talk with gentle touch to access experiences held in the body/mind.
Michael Uebel, PhD, LMSW Co-founder, IDP-Austin Director of Contemplative Studies Michael Uebel's study of Eastern philosophy and contemplative practice began in the mid-1980s when he was introduced to Taoism and the I-Ching. Since then, he has developed a serious study of the Mahayana tradition, with special emphasis on Zen Buddhism. Michael practices zazen and is beginning qigong meditation.
Michael is a psychotherapist in private practice in Austin, and receives continuing institute training in psychoanalysis. A former professor of literature and critical theory and the author of three books and over 40 essays, he is at work on several essays and two major studies approaching various dimensions of culture, moral consciousness, and humanistic values. As a psychotherapist, his approaches are humanistic- and spiritual-based, drawing upon the insights and techniques of mindfulness-based practices, Morita therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and Gestalt therapy.
