Imagine you are a father standing outside your burning house, knowing that your children are inside, but you can't convince them to leave. Does that sound like a nightmare? Does that sound a little bit like our culture? In the parable of the burning house the father in question has to be creative--and the solution he comes up with has everything to do with practice. Join Roshi Pat Enkyo O'Hara, a leading Zen teacher, for the rest of the story in this engaging evening of lecture, discussion and introduction to the Lotus Sutra (the most psychedelic of the Buddhist texts).
ROSHI ENKYO O’HARA, PhD, is the Abbot of the Village Zendo. She is a lineage holder in both the Soto and Rinzai lines of Zen Buddhism. She is also a former professor at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. She is a Founding Teacher of the Zen Peacemakers and she serves as the Guiding Spiritual Teacher for the New York Center For Contemplative Care. Enkyo Roshi's focus is on the expression of Zen through caring, service, and creative response.
